The rise of Granfluencers

That’s right, the older generation is here to show everyone that they most certainly can keep up with the latest TikTok trends and inspire their thousands of Instagram followers with #StyleInspo posts. Not only that, but these Insta-grans and grandpas show us that age really is just a number and that you are never too old to completely be yourself. 

We are truly inspired by these granfluencers here at Chums, which is why for our latest campaign we are looking at their monumental rise and popularity. 

This three-part campaign looks to the most popular granfluencers for some fashion tips in our new style guide. We also find out which granfluencers are dominating the online world in our very own Granfluencer League Table. Plus, if you’re feeling inspired by these Insta-grans, we’ve put together the perfect starter kit essentials for those looking to become a granfluencer.

The Granfluencer League Table can be filtered by each of the columns, so if you are curious as to how old each granfluencer is, for example, who has the most followers, or even where each is located, you can simply narrow your search down. 

The oldest granfluencer to feature in the league table and take the number one spot is Iris Apfel who, at 99, is estimated to have an annual salary of £77,420. The youngest granfluencers on the list are Luisa (@thesilverlining_1970) and Georgia Zaris, both aged 51 and making the top 20 in our list.  

We found that granfluencers in the UK need to up their social media game if they want to compete with other granfluencers across the world, however, with only four managing to make the league table. Perhaps unsurprisingly, you’ll notice the country with the most Insta-grans according to our table is the USA, with ten making an appearance in the league. 

There is still plenty of room for gents in the granfluencer market as only four men feature in the list, with Irvin Randle and Lance Walsh each having their own Instagram account. Geoffrey Walker shares an account with his wife, Pauline, and they have been together since December 1951, while Bon (of Bon and Pon, otherwise known as Tsuyoshi and Tomi Seki) shares the social spotlight with his wife of 37 years.
